Roosevelt remixes himself! After high profile remixes of Charlotte Gainsbourg, Rhye and CHVRCHES, the German producer reworks his recent Young Romance album for the dancefloor and his upcoming DJ tour.

Marius Lauber’s Young Romance saw the producer and songwriter embracing a newfound love for bigger, bolder pop songs that expressed escapism and wistfulness in equal measure, and featuring his first collaboration with Washed Out (“Forgive”).

But that sun-drenched nostalgia gives way to dusk on Midnight Versions. Pt. 2 – an opportunity to reconnect with his roots as a DJ and in-demand remixer. In between busy touring schedules he finds the time to turn his hand to the works of Alma, Blossoms, Glass Animals while in turn being remixed by luminaries such as Young Marco, Prins Thomas and Joe Goddard, the Hot Chip producer and co-founder of Greco-Roman label.

Keeping one eye on the prize and one foot on the dancefloor, Lauber’s instinctive synthesis of different soundscapes – French Touch, LA yacht rock or contemporary electronica – sees him extending, twisting and turning his trademark dreampop into sharp, effective workouts, awash with stripped back rhythm sections and dubbed out vocals. He explains:

“Take Me Back has become quite a techno jam, definitely the most adventurous take on this EP, and with Shadows I wanted to go for a classic “12 inch version", like it used to be common in the 70s on lots of my favourite disco records. An extended version with a similar vibe to the original, but with more time for the bass line to evolve - more stripped down, a less dense and hectic mix.“
